This is the first of our flu sessions.

Saturday 30th September 9am until 4pm
Clinics are mixed so please do confirm your age when you attend as the vaccination is different for those under 65 or 65 and over.

Further planned clinics will be on:
Saturday 14/10/23
Saturday 11/11/22

We will always offer opportunistically to eligible patients if seen at an appointment in the surgery to reduce the number of visits to us.

Eligible Population to receive the Flu vaccination

      1. Patients aged 6 months to under 65 years in “clinical risk groups”
      2. Children aged 2 to 10 (but not 11 years  or older) on 31 Aug 2023 ie up to school Year 6 BUT given in school to school aged children, not at the surgery
      3. Pregnant women or for 6 weeks post delivery
      4. Patients in long-stay residential care homes
      5. Carers
      6. Close contacts of “immunocompromised individuals”
      7. Frontline health & social care staff (including Locums)

What are the different types of Flu jabs?

      1. Children aged 2-17 in an eligible group are offered a live quadrivalent vaccine, given as a nasal spray
      2. Adults aged 18-64 who are either pregnant, have a long term health condition, or a frontline health or care worker are offered a quadrivalent injected vaccine.
      3. Adults aged 65 and over will be offered a cell-grown quadrivalent injected vaccine.

Why you should have your Flu vaccination at the surgery

    • Pharmacies and supermarkets do not have access to your FULL medical record or know you as well as we do so in the event of a potential reaction we are already equipped to deal with this or to resolve issues regarding the flu vaccination and potential conflict with your medical issues.
    • We will also advise, at the same time, if you are eligible to be vaccinated against shingles and/or pneumonia.
    • We also take the opportunity to ask you to  update some of your medical information to assist in future delivery of care necessary for your medical record.  Pharmacies or supermarkets do not do this and cannot therefore offer a more rounded consultation approach.
    • As with all injections there is a small risk of anaphylactic reaction. If this does happen your surgery is far better equipped to deal with such cases.
